2022 Teams Updates

The ultimate teamwork and collaboration platform, Microsoft Teams, has once again produced its updates for the new year. With a focus on meeting efficiency and effectiveness, the latest updates aim to improve user experience whilst creating the best meetings possible. All these updates and more will be readily available within the coming months. 

Meetings Quick Unmute 

During your meetings, you can now hotkey your mute button to ensure you can rapidly respond when called upon. You can now hold ctrl and spacebar for windows and options space key for mac to talk and then release to go back on mute. 

Music mode for Teams 

High-fidelity music mode enables Microsoft Teams users to experience greater sound experiences when sharing non-speech content such as live music, songs through other applications, or medical signals during a virtual appointment with a physician.  

 

Custom backgrounds for web users 

You can utilise the inbuilt Microsoft default wallpapers or blur your background with the coming update to ensure there are no distractions in your meeting. 

Mirrored Video 

You no longer have to see your video flipped, you will be able to see everything as if you were looking front on. 

Front Row for Microsoft Teams Rooms 

A new layout for Teams with hybrid meetings in mind. The layout helps provide attendees with a better experience and understanding of all aspects of the meeting. This will provide attendees with a full view of chat, raised hands queue, content, and of course the faces. 

Switch cameras on Teams Rooms on Windows  

You are now able to switch to different cameras from a drop-down menu in the settings to ensure the best experience for both the members of the meeting and the guests. This will help ensure that the content is framed exceptionally and the meeting can be more engaging for all members. 

Transcription for 1:1 Calls 

Transcription of one-to-one calls on Teams is now available. This can be enabled via the control bar within the Call window. 

Meet now support for Teams Rooms on Windows 

An update to the “New Meeting” control on the Teams Rooms console is “Meet”. With Meet, you can start an ad-hoc meeting with a single tap and invite participants to join at any time.
