New Microsoft Azure regions available for Australia and New Zealand

Microsoft has announced the availability of two new Microsoft Azure cloud regions that can provide services to Australian and New Zealand customers.

These new regions are specifically designed to support the mission critical demands of the Australian and New Zealand governments, as well as national critical infrastructure, whilst also providing additional opportunity for private enterprise organizations with workloads that have high security requirements.

“A unique difference of these Azure regions is the capability to locate existing systems, private clouds, specialized networking or safety-critical systems within the same facilities as Azure, and indeed directly connected to Azure.  The hybrid flexibility, performance and security this delivers enables the modernization of even the most complex applications,” the company said.

Microsoft Australia also stated that it has combined with Canberra Data Centres to serve their customers via Microsoft’s Azure ExpressRoute technology, which allows for high-bandwidth internet connections.

Microsoft Azure Australia Central is the latest in a series of developments to grow the platform’s reach across the globe. In March, Microsoft introduced new Microsoft azure regions in France, and revealed plans to deliver cloud services from new regions in Switzerland, Germany and the United Arab Emirates.
